With the focus on the special technology and manufacturing expertise of both industries, the initiative is providing companies as well as research partners with a suitable framework to jointly develop new application and business fields as well as cooperations beyond their respective industries and in exchange with partners of the respective opposite industry.
The focus of the "Heavy Metal Day" was on the expertise available throughout the region in the field of (surface) processing and assembly of metal. The thematic scope of the event ranged from Milling, Cutting, Forming, Creating to Finishing and offered the participants the opportunity to get to know the expertise available in the region covering various disciplines related to the topic of metal. The host of the event was M&H CNC Technik in Ilz, an innovative company in metallic 3D printing & reverse engineering. M&H's production facility provided the perfect atmospheric setting for the technical presentations addressing the wide range of technologies and cross-industry application possibilities. In addition to the Styrian partners V.I.E. Systems, Radkersburger Metal Forming, ZETA, Joanneum Research MATERIALS and ÖGI - Österreichisches Gießerei-Institut, RO-RA Aviation Systems and CERATIZIT, from Upper Austria and Tyrol were also participating. In a concluding panel discussion with ASMET - Austrian Society for Metallurgy & Materials and the Regional Guild of Metal Technicians of the WKO, a final look was taken at the upcoming challenges of the metal industry, which is characterized by ever-increasing digitization and a change in the classic job description.
After the presentation and discussion part, the event offered the opportunity for numerous bilateral discussions and, as a result, the positive suggestion to the cluster organizations to take up and further pursue one or the other main topic of the successful Heavy Metal Day within the framework of the Mobility4Health initiative.
